Introduction to Highs & Lows

My last semester of college I took what ended up being one of my favorite classes of undergrad. It was a Sustained Dialogue class that I honestly think should be required by every college student. It helped me to think outside the box and be more open minded about the world around me involving race, gender, sex, etc. The class was broken down into 5 groups led by 2 student mentors and each group made up of about 12 students. At the beginning of each class, we would rearrange our desks into a circle and start off by saying our highest point of the week and our lowest point of the week. This ice breaker really helped form relationships with our classmates and was a great way to get into the discussion for the day. I always looked forward to doing this and would walk to class reflecting on my week and deciding what I would share with my classmates. It was also great hearing about how other students weeks were whether they made an A on a hard test or if they’ve put off studying until the night before.

I loved it so much that I’ve decided to do a weekly update with my personal high and my low and I’m also going to incorporate my favorite thing I’ve seen on the internet over the week!

HIGH:

This week I won a $250 gift card through an Instagram contest! I am so excited not only because I’m broke, but my luck finally decided not to fail me! Within the same 24-hour period of finding out I won the gift card, I set up THREE interviews!!! Two are follow-ups for companies in New York and the other is the first round interview for Turner Sports in ATL (ayyye).

LOW:

BASICALLY to sum this one up… car probz. This week has realllllly warmed up (I’m talking humid upper 80s) and of course my A/C in my car decides to go in and out (mostly out) so driving for 3 hours on the interstate was pretty much miserable.

I knew my eardrums would be done-zo if I rolled down the windows so I just had to sit in a puddle of sweat my whole drive to Tuscaloosa. Yum.

Another car probelm.. I got a car wash mostly because I needed to vacuum out the inside. I took my floor mats to the machine you run it through, but I guess it's made for plastic or rubber floor mats and not cloth. I know this of course now after the fact... The machine cleaned my mats by soaking them in water and now my car just smells musty and gross. I should really invest in an air freshener.

Favorite Thing on the Internet:

The Walmart Yodeler. Iconic. Mason Ramsey-- you are a legend.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about then

1.) How are you reading this article because you obviously don’t have internet access 2.) Watch it NOW!!!! Attached below.

Comment with your high and low of the week! Or your best yodeling if you’re really feeling it.
